Synap has three plans: Standard, Pro, and Business and two billing methods: Pay as you Go (PAYG) and Monthly.
On monthly plans payments are taken in advance, you'll be charged the full cost of the plan and tier you've selected as well as any accrued overages from the previous month. For both Standard and Pro plans there are different tiers based on Monthly Active Users (MAUs).
An MAU is any user who logs in and performs any of the actions:
Starts exam attempt
Starts quiz attempt
Views a collection item
Starts an assignment
On monthly plans a unique MAU has been counted, any additional actions performed by the same user will not be charged for. So there is no additional cost for an already counted MAU taking 1 exam vs them taking 100 exams and starting an assignment. This is unique to monthly plans and it doesn't work the same way on PAYG plans.
The following user actions would not contribute towards an MAU count:
Views certificate
Views results pages
Views insights
Resuming a started assignment
Updates account information
Views pinned note pages

Pay as you go billing works by pre purchasing bundles of credits, which are then spent on different user actions. Credits expire 12 months after purchase. Some proctoring options incur additional costs

*"Low-stakes MAUs" refers to the use of Synap's various 'low-stakes' assessment tools such as Collections and Spaced Learning, to deliver tests and revision materials to users. These are essentially charged as Monthly Active Users - so, one user taking any number of practice tests or accessing a number of collections on the platform in a given billing month, will cost 1 credit.
