# Portal Stores

Guides on portal stores which can be used as shop fronts, or content library for users to self assign content

{% hint style="info" %}
Portal Stores are an add on and are not currently available by default on any Synap plans. If you're interested in having a portal store and are on a Business or Enterprise plan please get in touch with support to discuss.

If you already have a Portal Store, the article below will outline how to use the Shop Management page to create and manage products and the Store
{% endhint %}

Portal Stores let admins sell or access to content (courses, collections) via products on a branded Synap shop, gated by user group membership.

### Starting checklist

1. Make sure as an admin you've got the Shop Management page enabled
2. Have a user group set up with the content you want associated with the product - ( A group with access to an, Exam, Collection or Assignment)

### Create a store page

Go to the Shop Management page and Create store page. Pick a name and scope for your store. Select Portal root if you aren't using sub portals, else select the sub portal you want to use.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://academy.synap.ac/doc/portal-settings/portal-stores.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
