Giving your exam a name, selecting the user group, type and source for the exam remain the same. Once you have finalised the source content for the exam, the user group and type cannot be changed with versioning.
The majority of tabs for configuring your exam have remained the same but there has been a slight change to the order of the tabs in some places.
If you are looking for the Settings config tab for choosing the timer, enabling a calculator etc, this has been renamed to Experience, in line with the equivalent page on the quiz builder.
Once you have configured all of the settings for your exam and set the open window on the schedule page, you must now publish the exam. Previously selecting 'Schedule' on the schedule page was the final step in setting an exam live. Scheduling now behaves in the same way as other settings in that it is set and saved.
The final step now is to Publish the exam. This is done on the new Version Management page. You can find this towards the bottom of the list of config tabs. Alternatively, you can click on the 'Go to Publish' button which can be found to the top left of the page, beneath the exam name and id
On the Version Management page you can view all of the settings you have selected for the exams. You can also navigate directly to the settings page for each from this page to change them if needed.
Once you have checked over all of these settings you can publish the exam at the bottom of the page.
Publishing will generate attempts for any users already in the group, and you can see these on the Attempt Management page (previously Users).
Any users added to the group whilst the start window is open will also have an attempt generated.
Once you publish the exam you will notice that the order of the config tabs changes, this is to move the attempt and version management pages to the top of the list so they are easier to find.
Some settings can be changed without needing a new version. The pages where these settings can be found are indicated by a lightning bolt symbol. Once you make and save a change on one of these pages, the change will be reflected to any non-started attempts.
On the Version Management page you will see a 'New version' button. Selecting this button will generate a new draft version of the exam. The existing version and attempts will be unaffected at this stage.
Creating a new version in draft will allow you to edit the majority of settings for the exam. Once you have made the necessary changes you can use the 'Go to publish' button to be taken directly to the Version Management page where the settings overview will be displayed. You can toggle between showing all settings, or just those which are different to the previous version.
Remember that you will always need to set the open / close window on the settings page, even if it is remaining the same
Once you are happy with the new settings, you can publish the new version. Any attempts generated after this point will be generated under the new version. This includes:
New users added to the group
Users who have already had an attempt generated but who get a new one generated manually
Resit attempts - a user's resit will be generated under the version that is live when it is generated - ie: when they fail the original attempt - even if this is different from the original attempt
Once you have published a second version you will be able to filter the Attempts Management table to view attempts by their version. You will also be able to apply a version filter to the Attempts page to export only attempt data for certain versions.
