Different options and settings for exams

Fully customise the student exam experience with settings. We recommend you run a test exam internally before setting live exams. Once you have a test run, you can always clone the exam.

Exam mode

Select the primary mode you want candidates to take the exam in, there are 3 to choose from:

  1. Timed exam : The exam has a timer, when the timer runs out the exam is ended. Results at the end unless deferred. Set time on the timer below.

  2. Exam: The exam has no timer and candidates won't be kicked out. Results at the end unless deferred

  3. Practice mode: No time, candidates told whether they answered the question correctly after each question, feedback given instantly. Results cannot be deferred

Timer : This is the duration of the exam once a student has started.

Section timers: if the exam has sections you can use the timers set on each section or set your own overall timer here (disable section timer to have a sectioned exam with an overall timer)

Enforce full timer: when enabled the candidate will not be able to leave an exam or section early

Security: Enable enhanced security measures on all questions, by disabling copying and disabling pasting, of questions and answers.

Soft sections: When enabled candidates will be allowed to return to previous sections to view their answers

Shuffle sections: Allow the order of sections to be randomised for each candidate

Shuffle questions: Allow the order of questions to be randomised for each candidate

๐Ÿง  Note: Exams generated from one quiz that contains timed sections (Static) will have its timer inferred from the source quiz. Stating a time that is different from the sum of timed sections will have no impact as it is ignored in the exam config. If you wish to change the exams timer you must do this at the quizzes section.

Calculator: Show or hide a standard or scientific calculator on screen during an attempt

Notepad: If enabled candidates will have access to an on screen note pad during exam attempts.

Flagging: Flagging lets students flag potential issues with questions during an exam, this can be hidden from students.

Show available marks: Allow candidates to see how many available marks are on each question
